Butters AMT launches the RASOR 60, the industry’s highest powered single-phase plasma cutting machine

Hillhead 2007, Buxton, UK – 26 June 2007. Butters AMT has launched the RASOR 60 - the industry’s highest powered, single-phase inverter-based plasma cutting machine. Its unique inverter power module allows for reduced mains power consumption but also makes it possible to (clean) cut through 20mm of mild steel and separate up to 25mm. The machine can be operated in Manual mode for normal operation or, for the continuous cutting of mesh, Automatic mode which negates the need for re-triggering.

The RASOR 60 is ideal for use in a variety of industrial sectors including; automotive, agriculture, transportation (trains, HGVs…), marine, construction, power generation and petrochemical. It is supplied with a Thermadyne 1 cutting torch, which is renowned for low consumable costs and which has a cable length of 6m

Julian Knowles, Butters AMT’s Technical Director, comments. “To match the RASOR 60’s cutting performance you’d normally have to use a three-phase machine, so the RASOR 60 is well-suited to demanding applications where there’s only a single-phase supply.”

The RASOR 60’s inverter technology allows a stable arc to be obtained, which ensures high cutting quality for a wide variety of materials including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Its pilot arc can penetrate painted and rusty surfaces: sparing the operator from tedious preparation.

The RASOR 60 weighs only 18kg and measures 570 x 200 x 360mm, making it fully portable for site work. Also, the unit features a reset switch on its front panel and includes a torch safety circuit. It conforms to all relevant CE directives and standards, including EN 60974-10, and is protected to IP22 and insulation class H.
