Butters AMT opens a dedicated division for mechanised and automated welding and cutting equipment following its appointment as exclusive distributor for BUG-O in the UK and Ireland

Droitwich, UK – 2 April 2007. Butters AMT has been appointed as the exclusive distributor in the UK and Ireland for BUG-O’s range of portable automation machines. These machines can more than double the productivity of semi-automatic welding and cutting machines with a uniform improvement in both the quality and appearance of the welds and cuts.

Bob Burns, Butters AMT’s Managing Director, comments: “Because the BUG-O automation products allow users to position and, if necessary, then move the work pieces at a constant rate, there’s an instant improvement in the quality of welds and cuts. The machines also allow users to implement small, medium and large-scale batch manufacturing.”

The BUG-O range is an inexpensive, modular family of portable machines which provide precise path and constant speed control in any plane or position. Standard products include column & boom welding consoles, circular welding devices and revolving units. Also, thanks to the modularity of the products, it is possible to construct a bespoke machine for virtually any application.

Burns continues: “These features are particularly desirable to steel fabricators as they produce the same results as a highly skilled welder. Further, in no time at all, welders become skilled machine operators who can, without fatigue, produce better products consistently, reliably and faster than when manually welding and cutting.”

The products are used for applications such as oxy-fuel or plasma cutting and bevelling, carbon arc or plasma gouging, TIG, MIG or submerged arc welding, flame spraying and non-destructive inspection testing.

BUG-O products are used in many steel fabrication industries including shipbuilding and pressure vessel and rail car manufacturing. They are also used by structural steel fabricators, mechanical contractors and in steel supply and service centres.
